My Background

The name “Pause For Thought Psychology” came to fruition after many conversations with family, friends and colleagues about how to encapsulate what therapy is. Life is busy and years pass by quicker than we want them to, so these discussions reiterated to me just how significant it is for any of us to allow ourselves the space to stop, reflect, process and learn – which is exactly what therapy offers.

When I became a registered psychologist over ten years ago, my first role was in an oncology not-for-profit organisation. I then moved into the public hospital system, with the focus being on supporting patients suffering from psychological distress due to a vast array of physical health concerns.

Early on in my career, though, I realised that unfortunately it could be difficult to find a psychologist in the community who had an interest, and also experience, in supporting individuals grappling with chronic medical issues. This led to me commencing in private practice and eventually opening my own business, Pause For Thought Psychology.

Having previously worked in a multi-disciplinary pelvic pain clinic, I am particularly passionate about women’s health and know the value of providing holistic care.

My Qualifications

In order to become a psychologist, I have completed the following degrees:

  • Bachelor of Arts (Psychology)

  • Postgraduate Diploma of Psychology

  • Master of Clinical Psychology

After finishing my studies, I enrolled in a registrar program, which subsequently led to me being an endorsed clinical psychologist.

I have also completed a Master of Counselling degree and I have undertaken specialised training which enables me to supervise both provisional and registered psychologists.

For my information, you may wish to look at the Services and Frequently Asked Questions pages.
